Ernest
Hemingway
Constantin Alajalov, 1934
Paper doll, water color?
Alajalov (1900-1987) was the only artist to have painted covers
for both the Saturday Evening Post and the New Yorker.
Besides depicting the political personalities of his day, he drew
a series of caricature paper dolls for Vanity Fair. This
March 1934 work portrayed Hemingway in a machismo style all
for art's sake.
