Early Books ~ Preserving Indian Heritage

The North American Indian included musical selections that Curtis team members collected in the field and then transcribed.

Each photograph used in The North American Indian was individually printed by artisans using the photogravure method.

To ensure the best possible print quality, Curtis printed from a copper "stereotype" created from a mold of the type blocks. Curtis also used the finest paper and binding methods.
